Before Anesthesia
- Please do not eat or drink anything (including water, chewing gum, breath mints, etc.) for 6 full hours prior to your appointment. Please do not ingest alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Wear loose fitting clothing with short sleeves. Leave all jewelry at home and do not use any make-up. If present, please remove nail polish from both thumbs and index fingers.
- If you are a smoker, please refrain from smoking at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Please use the bathroom prior to your appointment.
- A responsible adult must accompany you to the office and REMAIN IN THE OFFICE for the duration of your appointment. Please make arrangements for someone to be with you at home during the early post-operative period.
- If you have small children, please leave them at home under the care of someone else. You should not be responsible for their care for at least 24 hours, or longer if you are taking narcotic pain pills.
- You should not drive a car, operate machinery or ingest alcohol for at least 24 hours after anesthesia.
- Please have your prescription filled and at home ready to take once the procedure is over. It is not wise to leave the office in a sedated state and wait in line for the pharmacist.
- If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, upset stomach or bowels, please notify the office.
- If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Bosack for instructions prior to your surgical date.
