Your comfort is very important to us. Dr. Bosack is patient, understanding and will provide plenty of “TLC.” Your treatment will be provided in a calm, relaxed environment.  We will keep you informed so that you know what to expect – the more you know, the less you have to anxious about.  Sometimes, various anesthetic agents can be used to further improve your experience in our office.

Outpatient anesthetic options in our offices range from local anesthesia (numbing), intravenous sedation (twilight sleep) and general anesthesia (sleep.)

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are unique among the surgical specialties with regards to anesthesia training. Every oral and maxillofacial surgeon during their residency receives formal anesthesia training with the Department of Anesthesia in the hospital. This includes IV sedation, airway management and intubation techniques. This also includes complete training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Most states have very strict guidelines regarding the administration of anesthesia in the office to ensure patient safety. Dr. Bosack follows the guidelines and protocols set forth by the Illinois State Dental regulatory bodies.  Our offices and procedures are regularly inspected. It is our utmost goal to make your surgical experience as pleasant and stress free as possible while maintaining the highest levels of safety.

During the initial consultation we will discuss the type of procedure involved and will review your medical history. Some procedures, due to their nature, require the use of IV sedation, whereas others are best accomplished under local anesthesia. The choice of anesthesia is always a personal decision and should be made only after an informative consultation. In addition, during the initial consultation, you will be given instructions on how to prepare for your procedure and anesthesia.
